Q: Error when adding pictures listings
Below is a possible error string which is rarely encountered after setting up the auto dealer website design software.
Error: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path "d:\\web\\websitename.com\\www\\ezauto\\dealerimages\\imageNmae.jpg" is denied. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String str) at System.IO.File.Delete(String path) at _ASP.ResizeImage_aspx.Page_Load(Object s, EventArgs e
A: The cure:
Edit the permissions for the aspnet user.
The actual permissions on the folders for the aspnet user should be:
Modify Read & Execute List Folder Contents Read Write
Apply this at the folder level for ezauto. It may be sufficed for the folders _private, DealerImages and images to have these permissions but that would mean applying the permissions six times instead of twice.
Q: Error (0x80042109
I can receive email but can't send and got the message below.
Sending' reported error (0x80042109) : 'Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).
A: Alternate SMTP Port for Outlook Express and Outlook (Windows)
There are three versions of Outlook that are most commonly used, all of which are outlined in this FAQ.
A common issue currently with Internet Service Providers is that they block port 25. This is the port that an email program uses to send email messages. They do this to try to reduce the spam that is generated directly from their customers.
Symptoms
1. Unable to send email messages all of the sudden. However, messages are still received.
2. Getting one of these two errors: The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'Your Name', Server: 'mail.EXAMPLE.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E -or- Task 'Account Name - Sending' reported error (0x80042109) : 'Outlook is unable to connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'
Outlook (Express, 97 or 2000)
1. From the Tools menu, select Accounts
2. Select the email account to be SMTP-authenticated and click on the PROPERTIES button.
3. On the "Advanced" tab, you'll see the port settings for both incoming mail (POP3/IMAP" and outgoing mail (SMTP). By default, the SMTP port is probably set to '25'.
4. Select the number displayed next to "Outgoing server (SMTP)" and change it to 8889.
5. Hit the "OK" button to close the "Internet E-mail Settings" window. Click on the "Next" button, then the "Finish" button.
Outlook (XP and 2003 or newer) that comes with Microsoft Office
1. From the menu item "Tools" select "Accounts." Click on the NEXT button. Click on the CHANGE button. Click on the MORE SETTINGS button.
2. On the "Advanced" tab, you'll see the port settings for both incoming mail (POP3/IMAP" and outgoing mail (SMTP). By default, the SMTP port is probably set to '25'.
3. Select the number displayed next to "Outgoing server (SMTP)" and change it to 8889.
4. Click on the buttons OKAY, NEXT, FINISH.
Outlook that comes with Microsoft Office Corporate
1. In Outlook, on the Tools menu, click Services. Click Internet e-mail, and then click Properties.
** If the ISP's SMTP server was being used, change it to mail.EXAMPLE.com where EXAMPLE.com is your domain name. You should now be able to send mail from your domain, regardless of the ISP you are using.
Q: Aircraft oriented site?
Any reason why your dealership software would not work for an aircraft oriented site?

I have an existing database containing my inventory. Can I import this data into the new dealership software?
A: In almost all cases we can write a script that will import your existing data in the exact structure needed to create or update our database. This means that if you're using desktop software at your dealership, at your convenience you can log into your online admin, upload your new data and run our import script and you're done! Supported software and file extensions include but are not limited to: MS Access (.mdb), MS Excel (.xls & .csv), Note files (.txt), CGI Applications (.cgi) If your file type is not listed, please contact us.
Q: Can I create customized Search Queries?

Q: I have multiple dealerships ...
I sell more than just boats. I sell jet skis and motorcycles. How can your dealership software work for me?
A: With our software you can create and name your categories anything you want and apply your listings accordingly.

Q: I don't have time to build my site. What ...
I have a business to run and don't have time to design a website. What should I do?
A: Contact us! If you already have a website, we can either import it into our software or one of our staff can perform the data entry so you don't have to do any thing.
Q: I already have a website ...
I already have a website for my dealership that I've spent a lot of time and money building. What are my options if I want to use the e Dealer Design dealership software?
A: Here are a couple of examples on what we can do for you. With existing database driven website applications, our technical staff can import all of your listings, categories, images and all other needed information from almost any existing application right into your new database.
We write scripts that will read your database, cross-match your information, create the needed tables and put your info right where it needs to go. For other static sites we can simply link your images to the corresponding listing which will be created in our database or simply type each listing into the listing administration area.
Q: Server Requirements
What are the requirements to run your dealership classifieds software on my own server?
A: Our software is written in pure ASP. All you need is the ability to run Microsoft Access or Microsoft SQL Server.

Q: How many sites can I run if I buy EZAuto?
How many websites can I run if I buy the dealership software?
A: Per our license agreement you can run (1) website with each license you purchase. However, if you create multiple sites within your website to reflect different inventory types on one site, you are within the requirements of our license model.
Example: Your company's website displays Chevy's, Fords, and Kia's under one domain name .... that's fine! Somewhere within your template you just add a link to each makes sub-site. See our online demos and how they are linked together.

Q: Error: Request object error 'ASP 0104 : 80004005'
Error: Request object error 'ASP 0104 : 80004005' Operation not Allowed
A:
Before you edit the file, be sure to stop the IIS service first or else you won't be able to save the file.
Our upload function supports uploading large files on the Windows 2003 server, however, IIS6.0 prevents the upload of files more than 200 Kb. You'll need to make some changes in the default IIS settings first.
For IIS6.0 users, the AspMaxRequestEntityAllowed property specifies the maximum number of bytes allowed in the entity body of an ASP request. If a Content-Length header is present and specifies an amount of data greater than the value of AspMaxRequestEntityAllowed, IIS returns a 403 error response.
This property is related in function to MaxRequestEntityAllowed, but is specific to ASP request. Whereas you might set the MaxRequestEntityAllowed property to 1 MB at the general World Wide Web Publishing Service (WWW Service) level, you may choose to set AspMaxRequestEntityAllowed to a lower value, if you know that your specific ASP applications handle a smaller amount of data.
Solution: Open your metabase.XML which is located in c:\\Windows\\System32\\Inetsrv find the line "AspMaxRequestEntityAllowed" and change it to "1073741824". This is 1GB - of course you can enter another value to suite your needs.
As noted above, before you edit the file, be sure to stop the IIS service first or else you won't be able to save the file.
Q: Custom Button Navigation
Since the dealers' software navigation is created dynamically, is there a way to create my own buttons to look the way I want?
A: Sure, you can customize the software in any way to suite your needs. Literally any design can be integrated into it with some decent knowledge of HTML.
It's always a good idea to know how you want your visitors to navigate through your website so planning should be your first step.
Create your design and incorporate it into the D_template.asp page of our software. Add the buttons that you want to use, including rollovers if you want.
Log into your dealer admin area and create or modify your navigation. Here is an example navigation style:
Select the Categories Icon and add or edit your categories. Once you have all of your categories created, click the "View Website" link and browse each category. In your browsers search bar see the name of your website including the path to the category you selected. It will look like this:
http://www.nameofyoursite.com/EZAuto/DealerFiles/DealerList.asp?CategoryID=3
Copy the path like this and add a ../ before DealerFiles as shown below: ../DealerFiles/DealerList.asp?CategoryID=3
Type or paste this as your buttons for category path. Next, browse to your next category and repeat the above steps until you have completed your navigation. Upload your D_Template.asp page and test it out.
It's really that simple!
