Useful after an unwanted change
Recover the copy that existed before the newest backup replaced it—for example, an earlier document, spreadsheet, design, or project revision.
Backup O'Clock feature
A regular backup keeps your latest verified copy. When Time Vault is enabled, it can also retain the outgoing copy before a changed file replaces it, giving you another recovery choice after an accidental overwrite or unwanted edit.

Turn Time Vault on while creating or editing a routine. The first backup establishes the current copy; later replacements can create retained versions.
Use Restore with Include Time Vault to search current and earlier copies. Restore an older version to another folder and compare it before replacing anything.
Storage lists dated snapshots and their sizes. Retention cleanup is previewed first, and only the snapshots you select are permanently removed.
Clear boundary
Time Vault starts when you enable it and cannot recreate earlier versions retroactively. It uses backup-drive space and is not a system image, cloud sync service, or substitute for a separate disconnected or offsite copy.
Selected-file protection
Review supported destinations, system requirements, verification, recovery checks, and the limits of file-and-folder backup before deciding whether it fits your needs.
